BACKGROUND NOTE



Born on December 24, 1908 at Irvington, Nebraska, Walter Glenn Huber was the son of George and Amanda (Borup) Huber.  Huber graduated from Omaha Technical High School in 1925.  He spent two years at Omaha University and then transferred to the University of Nebraska where he received his bachelor of law degree in 1932.  The University of Nebraska awarded Huber a Doctor of Jurisprudence degree in 1968.  He opened his law practice in Blair, Nebraska, in 1939 and continued until 1972 when he was appointed as a district court judge for the 6th District by Governor J.J. Exon.  He served as a district court judge until his retirement in 1980.



Huber married Anna Hansen on August 24, 1935.  They had no children.  Huber served in several organizations, including serving as president of the Nebraska State Rose Society, 1973-1975; chairman of the Washington County Democratic Party, 1958-1960; and president of the Washington County Bar Association, 1968-1972.  Walter G. Huber died on February 25, 1991.  He is buried in the Blair Cemetery at Blair, Nebraska.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection consists of one box of papers relating to the life and career of 6th District Court Judge, Walter G. Huber.  The papers date from 1947 to 1980 and include biographical information, certificates, election cards and a guest book.
