SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



The collection consists of one folder containing a handwritten manuscript and two typescript copies entitled, “Selections from Pioneers of the West.”  The items are undated and the author is not identified, but the opening paragraph implies that the manuscript was read or presented at a meeting of some kind, most likely a local genealogical or historical group in Boone County, Nebraska.  The bulk of the writings appear to be taken from the published work, Pioneers of the West by John Turner.  The manuscript and typescript copies contain “selections” from the publication specifically relating to frontier and pioneer life in Boone County, Nebraska.
