BACKGROUND NOTE



Born in Iowa in March 1871, Minnie Rundall settled with her family near Orleans in Harlan County, Nebraska, in 1880.  She married Joseph Delimont at Alma, Nebraska, on March 2, 1898.  The couple had seven children and lived at Fairfield, Harlan County, Nebraska, for the rest of their lives.  Joseph died in 1944 and Minnie died in 1957.  They are buried in Orleans Cemetery at Orleans, Nebraska.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection consists of a reminiscence entitled, “I Lived in Soddies,” by Minnie (Rundall) Delimont. She writes about her youth and describes in detail the construction of the sod houses and dugouts they lived in. The reminiscences also describe the construction of water wells, schools in the area, and the plants that grew on the prairie.
