BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE



Born January 3, 1889, in Chicago, Illinois, Miles John Breuer married Julia Strejc and had three children, Rosalie, Stanley and Mildred.  Miles worked in Lincoln, Nebraska, as a physician.  He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps during World War I.  He was stationed at Base Hospital #49 at Allerey, France.  In addition to his medical career, Breuer was also a writer of science fiction works.  He had works featured in such magazines as Amazing Stories, Future Fiction, and Wonder Stories.  Miles John Breuer died at Lost Angeles, California, on October 14, 1945.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



The collection consists of several maps collected or used by Miles John Breuer during his service in the Medical Corps during World War I.  Items include a map of western Europe; a map of Toul, France, 2nd Army, 28th Engineers, 1918; and three maps of Hospital Center at Allerey, France, principally section #10.  Also included is a booklet about Breuer’s writings entitled, The Amazing Breuer: Early Czech-American Science Fiction Author Miloslav (Miles) J. Breuer (1889-1945).
