BACKGROUND NOTE



Born on August 13, 1896, at Little Rock, Iowa, Louis M. Albrecht moved with his parents to Nebraska in 1898.  They lived in Frontier County.  Albrecht served in the U.S. Navy during World War I.  After the war, he attended Bethany Bible School in Chicago, where he became a pastor.  He returned to Nebraska and married Minnie Corder at the Afton Church in Frontier County on August 15, 1920.  Over the years, Albrecht served as the pastor at various churches around Nebraska, including the Church of the Brethren in Kearney, the Pilgrim Congregational Church in Cortland, and the Wayland Christian Church near Gresham.  He also attended the State Teachers College at Kearney in the late 1920s and received his teaching degree.  He taught at several schools, including schools in Northport, Newark and Gresham.  Louis M. Albrecht died in Lincoln, Nebraska, on November 22, 1969.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection consists of one item, a bound photocopy of the memoirs of Louis M. Albrecht, Sr.  The writings are mostly undated, but the last dated items are from 1965.  The writings cover biographical and genealogical information about Louis M. Albrecht, his parents and grandparents, his wife and her family, and their children.
