Lincoln, Lancaster County, Neb.:  Organization of square dance callers and round dance teachers

Size:  1.0 cu.ft.; 1 box

The Lincoln Callers Association was organized on December 6, 1952, with fifty members. The Association’s purpose was to organize all square dance callers and round dance teachers into a group that would work toward the betterment of square and round dancing in Lincoln and the surrounding area. This was accomplished through regular meetings, workshops, and sponsored dances. As attendance at monthly meetings and record reviews dropped in the mid-1980s, the membership decided to disband the organization. The Lincoln Callers Association was officially dissolved on March 16, 1986.

This collection consists of one box of manuscript material arranged in five series: 1) Historical Materials, 1952-1986; 2) Minutes and Agendas, 1952-1986; 3) Membership Records, 1952-1986; 4) Dance Sponsorship Records, 1958-1985; and 5) Miscellany.

This collection relates to the business conducted and dance materials kept by the Lincoln Callers Association of Lincoln, Nebraska, an organization comprised of square dance callers and round dance teachers.
