BACKGROUND NOTE



Born February 1, 1858, near Monmouth, Illinois, John Renwick Spicer moved to Beatrice, Nebraska, in 1890.  He operated a harness and tackle business in Beatrice.  John R. Spicer died in Beatrice on January 29, 1950.  He is buried in Evergreen Home Cemetery at Beatrice, Nebraska.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection consists of one folder containing loose ledger sheets documenting various accounts kept by John Spicer for his harness and tackle business in Beatrice, Nebraska.  The account entries date from 1908 to 1913.
