On October 23, 1891, a group of thirteen people met in Lincoln, Nebraska at the home of John Urbach to discuss the possibility of organizing a church. It was on this night that the group founded the Immanuel German Reformed Church of Lincoln, Nebraska. Rev. Edmund Erb served as the congregation’s first pastor. In 1978 the congregation voted to change the name of the church to Immanuel Church. The congregation has been in the current church building at 10th and Charleston St. since 1906.*
