HISTORICAL NOTE



This church was organized at a meeting in the Loy Schoolhouse on June 13, 1874, and the name “Hopewell” was chosen. Services were held in the schoolhouse, located a few miles north of Burr, Otoe County, Nebraska, until the first church building was erected in 1880. On March 23, 1913, a tornado completely destroyed the church and parsonage. New buildings were completed and dedicated on June 21, 1914.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection of the Hopewell Presbyterian Church of Burr, Nebraska, consists of one reel of microfilm containing one volume, the church register dating from 1874-1940. The register contains minutes of the meetings of the congregation as well as lists of pastors, communicants, baptisms, and marriages. This volume was loaned for microfilming in November of 1976.
