BACKGROUND NOTE



Born in Hastings, Nebraska, in 1909, Hazel Struble graduated from high school in Fremont, Nebraska, in 1927.  She attended Midland College in Fremont for one year before transferring to the University of Nebraska, where she graduated with a B.A. in 1930.  She married Harold Stebbins in 1932, and the couple had three children.  Hazel Stebbins owned and operated Hazel Stebbins Interiors in Lincoln.  She also served as Women’s Director for KFOR Radio where she wrote, produced and served as hostess on her own show, “The Hazel Stebbins Show,” for over twenty years.  She was also involved in numerous local charities and organizations including the Lancaster County American Red Cross, Lincoln General Hospital Auxiliary, Lincoln Community Playhouse Auxiliary and the Friends of Fairview.  Hazel Stebbins died in June of 1983 and is buried in Lincoln Memorial Park. 



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection consists of one folder of information relating to Hazel Stebbins.  Included are information on Hazel Stebbins’ nomination as 1974 Nebraska Mother of the Year and information on her work for Miller & Paine/KFOR Radio.  Also included are a few newspaper clippings and several pages of information apparently taken out of an oversized scrapbook.
