HISTORICAL NOTE



The Frieden German Evangelical Church of Seward was organized in 1878 by immigrants from Germany. All church services, meetings and records of the church through the early 1920s were conducted in the German language.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection consists of one reel of microfilm containing eight volumes of church records of the Frieden German Evangelical Church, Seward, Nebraska, dating from 1878-1973. The records relate to the history and activities of the church 1878-1973. They include the church constitution, the church minutes and registers of members, pastors, births, deaths and marriages. The bulk of the records prior to 1922 are written in German.



These records were loaned for microfilming in December of 1973.
