HISTORICAL NOTE

The First Congregational Church of Grant, Nebraska was organized on September 10, 1887 in the law office of Phillips and Batman under the guidance of Rev. J.A. Thome, minister of the nearby Congregational Church of Ogallala. Reverend Thome had previously held regular church services in Grant regularly for approximately one year. A council of the Congregational churches approved the proceedings of the Grant organization and received the newly formed church into the Congregational body on November 20, 1887.
