BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE



Emil L. Martinson, son of Lars and Ingre (Johnson) Martinson, was born on May 8, 1883.  Lars Martinson was one of the first settlers of the Swedeburg community in Saunders County, Nebraska.  Emil was a long time resident of Saunders County and member of the Swedeburg Covenant Church.  Emil Martinson died at Wahoo, Nebraska, on April 5, 1959 and is buried next to his wife, Myrtle, in the Fridhem Cemetery at Ceresco, Nebraska.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



The collection consists of one folder containing various items written by or about Emil L. Martinson and the Martinson family.  Items include a six page typescript history of the Swedeburg Covenant Church written by Martinson; a clipping relating to the 60th anniversary of the church; two letters in Swedish on the occasion of the church’s 50th anniversary in 1926; a memo by John B. White from 1955 discussing meeting Martinson and receiving the items in this collection; and a two page typescript reminiscence by C. Carlson mentioning Lars Martinson in reference to early settlement of Saunders County.
