RG5194.AM:  Clarkson Local Legacy Project (Clarkson, Nebraska)

Scrapbook:  1999-2000

Clarkson, Colfax County, Nebraska

Size: 1 volume

The collection consists of a scrapbook (mostly photocopies) of the 1999 Czech festival in Clarkson, Nebraska, one of 1300 projects included in the Library of Congress’ Bicentennial Celebration Local Legacies Project in 2000.  The purpose of the project was to document America’s grassroots cultural and historical heritage.  The Clarkson Czech festival was registered with the Library of Congress by Rep. Doug Bereuter, and the original scrapbook is housed in the Library of Congress American Folklife Center’s permanent collection.

This scrapbook includes mostly photocopies and scanned copies from the original scrapbook.  Also included is the keepsake program from the May 23, 2000 reception at the Library of Congress.  The scrapbook is divided into six main sections, including Photographs, Narratives, Publicity, Miscellaneous, Permission Slips and Video.  The scrapbook included a 55 minute VHS recording of the 1999 Clarkson Czech Festival.

Note:  The video is now part of the moving image component [RG5194.MI].
