BACKGROUND NOTE



Born April 29, 1920, at Holdrege, Nebraska, Carroll J. Story graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University.  He served with the 52nd Fighter Control Squadron during World War II.  Carroll received a battlefield commission to 2nd Lt. and was awarded the Bronze Star.  After the war, he returned to Nebraska, where he worked as an engineer with the Nebraska Department of Roads for thirty-four years.  Carroll J. Story died in Omaha, Nebraska, on March 5, 2011.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection consists of one folder containing a typescript history entitled, “The Fifty Second Fighter Control Squadron.”  The history was written, arranged and typed by Ben F. Schumard.  Communication articles were written by Leo D. Topolski, and photography work handled by Clyde J. Steele.  Photographs of squadron members are pasted throughout the history.  Also included is a roster of enlisted men and officers in the Fifty Second Fighter Control Squadron.
