BIOGRAPHICAL NOTE



Alice G. Harvey was born in Tobias, Nebraska in 1892. She was an educator for 39 years, most of which she served as a high school instructor in the business education field. Harvey was an active member of the Nebraska Writers Guild and the Creative Writers Group. She published a book on Nebraska authors in 1934, and she was a regular contributor to Nebraska History magazine and several Omaha newspapers.



Harvey’s published works include an article for the June 1945 issue of The Business Education World, several books of poetry, as well as several pieces of sheet music. Ms. Harvey was an avid traveler and documented several of her vacations in her writings. She also wrote a number of unpublished short stories and plays. Alice G. Harvey lived in Omaha, Nebraska for most of her adult life and died there in 1970.



SCOPE AND CONTENT NOTE



This collection contains the published and unpublished works of Alice G. Harvey, most of which were written from 1920-1960. The majority of her published works are in manuscript form, and the bulk of the writings are drafts. Her writings include articles, poetry, biographical stories, advice columns, opinion pieces, short stories, plays, travel stories, and musical scores. Also included in the collection are newspaper and journal clippings, invoices, and correspondence from publishers and professional organizations.



Note:  The NSHS Library contains several published works by Alice G. Harvey.
